The Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has threatened to sack any of his employees who join the nationwide strike by Organized Labour against Galamsey.
Speaking in a recent interview, Mr Jumah disclosed that the strike by Organized Labour has no bearing on GIHOC employees. He added that they have no business going on strike as the issue on being protested on doesn’t affect them.
Meanwhile, Organised Labour has decided to embark on a nationwide strike scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024.
The group expressed dissatisfaction with President Akufo-Addo’s response to their demands, regarding illegal mining, otherwise known as Galamsey and its effects on the citizens and the various water bodies in Ghana.
“We have concluded as follows; our strike remains unchanged. We are of the view that what the government has proposed does not adequately address our demands and therefore our notice of strike remains unchanged.” The Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Joshua Ansah, reiterated.
