Popular Ghanaian dancehall musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, otherwise known as Shatta Wale, has revealed that he would not hesitate to represent the people of Ablekuma South in Parliament if they called on him to do so, particularly if public support grows ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“If people call on me to enter politics, I will do it, but I am not coming into it because I am rich; rather, I want to serve the interests of the people, and I will contest the Ablekuma South seat. But I don’t want to belong to any political party. It will be more as an independent candidate. I would consider it if the calls intensify in 2028,” he added.
Shatta Wale explained that his deep love for Ghana is a major reason he remains committed to the country despite opportunities to live abroad.

“I love Ghana so much that when someone tells me to travel outside, I feel worried because I spend more when I travel. It is expensive out there,” he stated.
The artiste further revealed that he is prepared to adapt fully if he decides to contest as a parliamentary candidate, noting that in every setting he finds himself, he must be able to adjust and fit into the system.
The music star also shared his view that Ghana’s governance structure needs some level of reform, stating that the country cannot continue relying on systems that were created many years ago. Referring to a song he recently released, Shatta Wale expressed frustration about the country’s legal framework, saying, “We are tired of the 1992 laws and constitution. We need to grow up from where we are. Other countries have grown, so we also need to look at how we can move forward,” he said.
He added that if he ever decides to contest for a political position, it would be guided by clear policies aimed at improving governance and driving development in the country.
“If I have to go into any constituency, they should understand that we also have policies we want to implement into the system. That is what is going to work,” he noted.
Despite sharing these views, Shatta Wale indicated that his current focus remains on his personal life and music career, although he has not completely ruled out the possibility of entering politics in the future.
