The Ghana Police Service has debunked rumors surrounding the removal of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
In a press statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, ACP Grace Akrofi-Ansah, the service maintained that Dr. Akuffo Dampare is still at post and all media reports suggesting that he has been asked to proceed on leave are fake.
The statement also reiterated that the IGP remains committed to his patriotic duties to leaf the service and also the mandate of leading the service to achieve its core mandates.
It further entreated Ghanaians to ignore the rumors and media circulation around the removal of the IGP and treat such reports with the contempt it deserves.
This comes on the back of the report filed by the Parliamentary Committee that sat to interrogate the alleged plot to remove the IGP by former Commissioner of Police, George Asare, Mr. Bugri Naabu and their accomplices.
