Ghana striker Inaki Williams played a starring role in Athletic Club’s 4-1 victory over Espanyol at San Mamés, netting a crucial brace that helped his side bounce back after their previous loss to Girona.

Williams, who has been in fine form this season, was instrumental in Los Leones’ dominant display, scoring two goals in the first half to put the game beyond Espanyol’s reach.

The first goal came in the 22nd minute when a slick move involving Álex Berenguer saw Williams slot home from close range. Just two minutes later, his brother Nico Williams turned provider, cutting through the Espanyol defence to set up Inaki, who finished expertly at the near post, doubling Athletic’s lead.

Despite missing their top scorer Oihan Sancet, Athletic remained sharp, creating multiple chances. Berenguer added a fourth goal early in the second half, capping off a stellar performance that saw Athletic dominate from start to finish. Espanyol managed a late consolation through Álvaro Tejero, but it did little to change the outcome.

Inaki Williams’ brace brings his goal tally to five this season, reaffirming his importance to Ernesto Valverde’s side as they climbed to fourth in La Liga, further solidifying their push for European football.
