Indonesian consulate in Ghana congratulates president-elect John Mahama; Proposes strengthened relations between the two countries

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia in Ghana has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on his resounding victory in the just-ended 2024 general election.

The Consulate also commended the National Democratic Congress-NDC and the good people of Ghana for their dedication to democratic principles and peaceful governance.

The Indonesian Consulate in Ghana’s statement said the election of Mr. Mahama as Present-elect is a reflection of the trust and confidence Ghanaians have in his vision and leadership and noted that the victory opens a new chapter of opportunity for Ghana to advance its national agenda, as the Consulate of Indonesia stands ready to collaborate in achieving these goals.

“Indonesia and Ghana share a history of strong bilateral relations, underpinned by shared values and aspirations. With Indonesia’s robust economy and extensive expertise in industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, energy and technology, there is vast potential for mutually beneficial partnerships”. “The Honorary Consulate is confident that under H.E Mahama’s leadership, both nations can explore these opportunities to create significant impact”. The statement added.

The Consulate assured the new government with focus on five key sectors of the economy, spanning from the agric, energy, trade and industry, tourism, education and technology. With Agro-Industry and Food Security under agriculture, the Consulate said Indonesia, a global leader in agriculture innovation and food processing can share its expertise to enhance Ghana’s agricultural value-chain. As it is optimistic the partnership in this sector will boost productivity, promote food security and create employment.

Secondly, for energy development, the statement said with Indonesia’s advancements in renewable energy and sustainable mining practices, Ghana stands to benefit from technology transfer and investment in clean energy projects, to support Ghana’s energy transition and infrastructure development.

For trade and investment, Indonesia said the relationship will open access to a market of over 270 million people, with the Consulate aiming to facilitate business delegation and joint ventures that promote exports and attract investments into key Ghanaian sectors.

Tourism and Cultural Exchange. That both nations can tap into their rich cultural heritage to promote tourism and strengthen people-to-people connections fostering goodwill and mutual understanding.

In Education and Technology, Indonesian said its institutions and technology hubs can provide scholarships, exchange programmes and technical expertise to Ghanaian students and professionals, advancing human capital development.

The Honorary Consul in Ghana, His Excellency Pascal A.B Rois, reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating these opportunities and driving collaboration between Ghana and Indonesian entities. He said the Consulate, in coordination with the Embassy of Indonesia in Abuja, is also eager to support a state visit by Mr. Mahama to Indonesia, following his inauguration. H.E A.B Rois said the Consulate remains steadfast in its mission to foster a prosperous and dynamic partnership between Indonesia and Ghana.
