The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of IT, Eric Ntori has confessed the recently held Assin Norty by-election “didn’t go well” for the party.

James Gyakye Quayson was declared winner of the by-election by the Electoral Commission (EC), Tuesday evening.

He garnered 17,245 of the total valid votes cast representing 57.56% beating his close contender from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Charles Opoku who had 12,630 votes representing 42.15 percent.

Speaking to Joy News, he said: “…It didn’t go well for us but it doesn’t matter that we lost it all…we’ll go back to the drawing board; prepare again and come back in 2024 and make sure we can snatch the seat again”.

SC of Assin North has spoken

Meanwhile, the National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Opare Addo has hailed the constituents of Assin North for proving that “they still prefer Gyakye Quayson”

“We have comfortably won the election. The Supreme Court of Assin North has spoken to the Supreme Court of Ghana that they still prefer Gyakye Quayson as their Member of Parliament,” he told Joy News.
