Benjamin AsareBlack Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, has opened up on the secret behind his clean sheet success.Following his impressive performance in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, Asare, who has so far kept 12 clean sheets, was handed a maiden call-up to the senior national team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. The 32-year-old kept clean sheets in both games as the Black Stars recorded a 5-0 win against Chad and a 3-0 win against Madagascar.”As a player, the secret is hard work; training, preparation, and mindset. You have to be aggressive about it because, without these things, you cannot make it as a footballer,” the former Great Olympics shotstopper said. After his impressive performance with the Black Stars, Asare credited the warm reception he received in camp for boosting his confidence, especially from the senior players.”As soon as I entered camp, everyone was happy to welcome me, which gave me more motivation to work hard, he said.Special thanks to Jordan Ayew- he motivated me all the time and told me that, despite being a local player, I can do this,” he added. With his performances drawing national attention, Benjamin Asare has proven that local league talent can rise to the highest level and thrive.Asare will hope to retain the post in June when the Black Stars compete in a four nation tournament before taking on Chad and Mali in the Matchday 7 and 8 games of the qualifiers.
