Popular Ghanaian media personality Cynthia Tima Yeboah, otherwise known as Tima Kumkum, has opened up about the difficult moments of telling her children about her separation from her husband, Dominic Duodu.
Tima revealed that informing her children about the separation was one of the most difficult parts of the situation, particularly because it was her second marriage and she feared how they would react.
She made the revelation during an exclusive interview on Joy Prime’s Changes, hosted by Nikki Samonas, where she confirmed that she and Dominic have been separated since April 1, 2025.
According to her, when Dominic left their home on the day of their separation, her daughter immediately noticed his absence and asked where her father was. Tima said she initially told the children that their father had travelled because she was not ready to tell them what had happened.
However, she explained that after about six months, she realised she could no longer continue hiding the truth from them and had to have an honest conversation with them about the situation. She eventually told the children that their father was no longer living with them.
“You have no idea because my fear was them asking me. The day we separated on the first of April 2025, when he left home, my girl in the morning asked, ‘Mummy, where is daddy? Initially I lied that he had traveled but after 6 month I couldn’t lie again, I had to face reality and tell them daddy is. I more with us,” she recalled.
Tima further noted that the children continued asking whether Dominic would return home, putting her in the difficult position of having to explain a situation she herself was still processing. She said she told them that she did not know whether their father would return because they were having issues.
Tima explained to the children that if she and Dominic were able to resolve their differences, the situation could change, but if they could not, they would eventually have to get divorced.

The media personality admitted that having that conversation with her children was particularly ‘Hard’, but she had to come to terms with reality and inform them about the situation.
She went on to reveal that she had previously spent about seven years living alone with her children before meeting Dominic, who also had two children. The two dated, built a family together, got married in July 2023 and later welcomed a son. However, she said things did not work out, eventually leading to their separation.
“Nature happened. Things just didn’t work out. Who will get married and think that it will end the next day or something?” she said.
Despite the separation, Tima spoke positively about Dominic’s role as a father, describing him as a responsible father and giving him credit for taking care of their son.
“He’s a very responsible man. I’ll give him his flowers for that,” she said.
The award-winning presenter also confirmed that the separation is known to their families, close friends and even some of their neighbours. While she has chosen not to disclose the specific reasons for the breakdown of the marriage, she said both she and Dominic have accepted the situation and continue to take care of their son.
She also revealed that the divorce process is currently ongoing and that she is waiting for the legal process to be completed and for her divorce certificate to be issued.
