Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has urged his players to remain focused and prepare for tougher challenges ahead as Ghana step up their preparations towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Addressing the playing body during a team meeting, the Portuguese tactician described the recent training activity as a useful but limited exercise meant to reinforce the team’s identity and World Cup history.

“Okay, guys, this was only a warm-up. It was only to emphasise the history of the Ghanaian World Cup. Next game quiz, it will be tough,” Queiroz said.

His comments come at a time when Ghana’s planned friendly against Honduras, which was expected to take place as part of their final preparations, failed to materialise—leaving the Black Stars without a scheduled match on the day.

It now appears increasingly unlikely that Ghana will play any additional fixture before the start of the tournament, meaning the technical team must rely heavily on training sessions to finalize their squad.

Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the global showpiece and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, and wrapping up their group-stage matches against Croatia on June 27.
