Belgian teenager of Ghanaian descent, Jesse Bisiwu climbed off the bench to score a brace for Barcelona on Sunday as they defeated FC Basel 5-2 in a pre-season friendly match.The talented winger was introduced in the 79th minute in place of Xavi Espart, but needed only a short time to make his mark.Bisiwu scored twice in the closing stages as Barcelona finished the match strongly to secure a convincing victory.On the matchday, Barcelona opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Karim Adeyemi. Basel responded nine minutes later when Jean Doucoure restored parity to send the two sides into the interval level.Barcelona regained the advantage four minutes after the restart, with Hamza Abdelkarim finding the net in the 49th minute. Lamine Yamal added Barcelona’s third goal from the penalty spot in the 81st minute.Basel quickly reduced the deficit when Kazeem Olaigbe converted a penalty three minutes later to make it 3-2.Barcelona, however, finished the match strongly. Substitute Jesse Bisiwu announced himself in the closing stages after entering the game in the 79th minute.The teenager scored his first goal in the 89th minute after an assist from Dani Olmo to restore Barcelona’s two-goal advantage.In the first minute of stoppage time, Bisiwu struck again, this time after being set up by Yamal to not only complete his brace but to seal Barcelona’s 5-2 victory.The performance will provide a major boost for the Ghanaian youngster as he aims to play a big part in Barcelona’s 2026/27 campaign.
