The parliamentary candidate under the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, John Dumelo, has paid the outstanding fees of a visually impaired law student at the Ghana School of Law, Makola.
The student, who had been facing the possibility of deferral due to unpaid fees, received a lifeline after John Dumelo’s timely intervention.
In a post on X, John Dumelo indicated that the student had reached out to him through a mutual friend, explaining the dire situation.
The student was at risk of being deferred from the law programme because he could not afford to settle the remaining fees, which amounted to ¢10,400.
“Visually impaired law student Gabriel Selasie Doe reached out to me through a friend to help him pay the remainder of his GHS 10,400 fees after he had to sell his laptop earlier. By God’s grace I have fully paid his fees and also given money to get his laptop back,” he posted on X.
The law student, who had already faced significant challenges due to his visual impairment, was under additional pressure of possibly losing a year of study.
