Jordan Ayew made his second appearance for Sheffield United on Wednesday night as the Blades suffered a 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup.The Ghana international was introduced as a second-half substitute and played 32 minutes as Sheffield United looked for a way back into the game.Ayew showed some attacking involvement during his time on the pitch, making one key pass and creating a big chance for his teammates. However, he could not help the Blades find an equaliser as Fleetwood held on to secure victory. The appearance comes just days after Ayew made his Sheffield United debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship.Having joined the club late, the 35-year-old has had limited time to settle into his new surroundings and build a consistent run of playing time. His two substitute appearances have so far provided him with 58 minutes of action since arriving at Bramall Lane.Despite his limited game time, Ayew is reportedly expected to receive a call-up to the Ghana squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Black Stars are scheduled to face Cte dIvoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia later in the international window.Ayew will hope to gain more minutes for Sheffield United before joining the national team as Ghana begin their qualification campaign.
