Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has issued a rallying call to his teammates ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, insisting the team must rise to the occasion and prove their quality on the global stage.

Ghana will be making their fifth appearance at the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

As part of their final preparations, Ghana tested their readiness with a 1-1 draw against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium before travelling to the United States for the concluding phase of their build-up.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Ayew stressed the importance of belief and determination within the squad.

“We have to prove ourselves, and we have to show that we have quality, and we have to be ready for the challenge,” the captain said.

He acknowledged the difficult nature of the task ahead but expressed confidence in the team’s mindset and unity.

“We all know it’s going to be difficult, but we are ready. Obviously, I know people don’t think that we will do well, so that is good,” he added.

Ghana will open their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before taking on England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.
