Zulte Waregem forward Joseph Opoku has been voted the Belgian Jupiler Pro League’s Player of the Month for April following a blistering run of form that has helped his side fight for top-flight survival. The 20-year-old Ghanaian featured in four games during the month, failing to score in just one of those matches. He drew a blank against Cercle Brugge before exploding back to form with two goals in a 2-1 away win over Dender. He then provided an assist in a 2-0 victory over RAAL La Louvire before netting twice in the reverse fixture as Zulte Waregem cruised to a 4-0 win.His contributions helped his side pick up three wins and one draw in April, keeping them in contention to avoid relegation. The Player of the Month award caps a remarkable period for the young winger, who has also received his first call-up to the Black Stars.Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has included Opoku in his squad for an upcoming friendly against Mexico as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.For Opoku, the recognition is both a reward for his consistency and a launchpad for what could be a busy summer on both the club and international stage.
