Sean “Diddy” Combs will remain behind bars until his sentencing hearing scheduled for October 3, after a judge denied his request for bail.

In a tense courtroom decision, the judge ruled that while Diddy may not be a traditional flight risk, the burden was on him to prove that he posed no threat to public safety, a burden the court says he failed to meet.

“It’s not just about whether he’ll flee. It’s also about whether he can be adequately monitored if released. And in this case, the answer is no,” the judge said.

Though Diddy was acquitted of the most serious charges, he was convicted on lesser counts that, according to legal analysts, often result in time served or fines, especially for first-time offenders. This has fueled confusion and frustration from his supporters, who feel the decision to keep him in custody until sentencing is unusually harsh.

But the judge was firm in his reasoning, citing concerns about violence, possible retaliation, and the inability of pretrial supervision to manage the risks associated with his release , especially given the allegations and footage that have emerged over the course of the case.

“We’ve all seen the videos. We’ve heard the testimonies. These are not conditions that ankle monitors and curfews can contain,” the prosecution argued.

Critics are questioning whether the decision reflects celebrity bias, or if the system is aiming to make an example out of Diddy. Others point out that public perception and media pressure may be influencing the court’s stance.

For now, Diddy remains in federal custody, with all eyes on what kind of sentence he will receive come October.
