The Chief Justice, Getrude Torkornoo, has advised members of the judicial service who are bent on giving the service a bad name to have a rethink and rather channel their energies towards bringing their expertise to bear and maintaining standards in the course of justice delivery.

The Chief Justice made the appeal at a dinner reception held at the forecourt of the Supreme Court Building.

Chief Justice Torkornoo announced that the Judicial Council will begin the 2023/2024 Legal year on Monday and called on the judiciary to brace themselves for the task ahead and be committed to the work of justice, due process, and ethical conduct.

The dinner reception forms part of the opening of the 66th Legal Year, which was marked with a special church service at the Anglican Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Accra.

The service, which began with a procession of the Bench and Bar, saw in attendance the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, as well as judges and lawyers from various parts of the country.
