British Ghanaian producer Juls returns with his third full-length album, Peace and Love, a project that captures his signature cross-continental blend of genres. The album is divided into two thematic halves: Peace, a side for slow-tempo, reflective tracks, and Love, featuring uptempo, high-energy beats. Together, they create a balanced musical journey that’s equally enjoyable in sequence or on shuffle.
Across the album’s 18 tracks, Juls collaborates with over 20 artists from the Black Atlantic music sphere. From the rhythmic cowbell and log drums in “Saint Tropez” to the heartfelt vocals of Nigerian singer Victony in “Keys to Your Heaven,” Peace and Love is a testament to Juls’ ability to meld diverse sounds. Standout tracks like “Injabulo” with South African singer Baby S.O.N. and “Bad Bad” featuring British Ugandan artist tendai showcase cultural influences, weaving in Zulu and Spanish spoken word.
A notable highlight, “Perspective,” sees Jamaican American singer Masego celebrating the beauty of multiculturalism through food imagery, from Ghanaian bean stew to Brazilian fish stew. This track epitomizes Juls’ transatlantic approach, blending R&B, Afropop, and global rhythms. With Peace and Love, Juls has crafted a rich, genre-defying album that’s as diverse and vibrant as the cultures it represents.
