Karela United have stepped up preparations for the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season by intensifying their player assessment exercise as the club looks to assemble a stronger squad under head coach Nurudeen Amadu.The ongoing trials form an important part of the club’s recruitment strategy, with the technical team casting a wide net in search of talented, disciplined and highly motivated players capable of competing at the highest level.The exercise has attracted a number of young footballers eager to impress the coaching staff and earn a place in the squad ahead of the new campaign.Club officials believe the trials provide an opportunity to identify players with the right attitude, commitment and potential to fit into Amadu’s philosophy.Every participant is expected to justify their inclusion through consistent performances, work ethic and tactical discipline during the assessment period.While the club continues to monitor emerging talent through the trials, Karela are also actively exploring the transfer market for experienced players who can add leadership and quality to the team.The club hopes the blend of youthful energy and seasoned experience will provide the balance needed to compete strongly in the upcoming season.Preparations are set to move into a new phase with the commencement of full pre-season training next week in Tamale.The intensive training camp will allow the technical team to evaluate the squad further while implementing tactical and physical programmes ahead of the league season.Following the Tamale camp, Karela will relocate to Sunyani, where they will continue their preparations and participate in the Sompa Invitational Tournament scheduled to take place from August 9 to August 16.The competition is expected to provide valuable match fitness and give the coaching staff an opportunity to assess the team’s progress against competitive opposition before the start of the new season.Karela concluded the 2025-26 Ghana Premier League campaign in ninth place. With renewed ambition and a comprehensive recruitment drive already underway, the club is determined to improve on that finish and challenge for a higher position when the 2026-27 season gets underway.The management and technical team remain optimistic that a productive pre-season and the addition of quality players will lay the foundation for a much stronger campaign.
