Former Dreams FC head coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed his delight after Ghanaian youngster Aziz Issah completed a permanent move to Spanish giants Barcelona, describing the transfer as another positive step for Ghanaian football.
Dreams FC reached an agreement with the La Liga club for the transfer of the 20-year-old, who has signed a two-year contract running until June 30, 2028, with an option for a further year.
The former Ghana U20 coach, who coached Issah during Dreams FC’s memorable 2022/23 campaign that saw the club win the Ghana FA Cup and reach the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, believes the winger has earned the opportunity through his talent and development.
I am very happy. I am very happy that another player has gone there early, Zito told Radio Gold.
Issah will continue his development with Barcelona B after spending the past two seasons on loan with the reserve side. During that spell, he made 20 appearances, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
The youngster announced himself on the continental stage during the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup, finishing as the competition’s joint top scorer with four goals.
He also captained Ghana’s U-20 side at the 2024 African Games on home soil, featuring in all five matches, before earning his senior Black Stars debut at the 2025 Unity Cup in London during Ghana’s 4-0 third-place victory over Trinidad and Tobago.
