Legendary Ghanaian rapper Obrafour has sued Canadian rapper Drake over copyright infringement.

Drake sampled Obrafour’s ‘Oye Ohene remix’ released in 2003 for his track ‘Calling My Name’. Nearly two years after the song was released, Obrafour has sued Drake in a New York court to the tune of $10 million.

The rapper in court documents indicated that the  Grammy award-winning rapper did not have his permission to sample the track.

After reports about the suit went viral, the CEO for Chalewote Festival, Nii Mantse Aryeequaye in a tweet after claiming ownership of the ‘Killer Cut’ phrase alleged that Obrafour has erred in filing the lawsuit on his intellectual property without his notification.

Expressing his view on the development, the Chairman for the Ghana Music Rights Organization(GHAMRO), Rex Omar in a facebook post stated that Nii Mantse doesn’t have a recorded or unrecorded song called ‘Killer Cut’.

According to the veteran musician, the phrase ‘Killer cut’ forms part of Obrafour’s recorded song ‘Oye Ohene’.
