Ghanaian artiste King Promise has finally bagged two big awards after losing out many times at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

The talented singer first won the Songwriter of the Year award in 2019 for his hit song “CCTV” at the VGMA.

However, since then, the awards had been elusive, leaving fans wondering if he would ever take home the trophy again.

But, at the 24th edition of the VGMA, held on May 6th, 2023, King Promise emerged victorious, taking home not one but two plaques in one night.

The “Choplife” hitmaker first won the Afrobeats/Afropop Song of the Year award, an impressive feat that proved his musical prowess in the genre.

On the same night, King Promise went on to beat Black Sherif, who many had tipped to win the Album of the Year award, to grab the coveted prize.

It was a moment of pure joy for the artiste, who had been working tirelessly to create a body of work that would earn him the recognition he deserved.

The VGMA Awards have always been a highlight on the Ghanaian music calendar, with fans eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winners each year. For King Promise, his double win was a long-overdue recognition of his talent, dedication, and hard work in the industry.
