The Headmaster of the Klo-Agogo Senior High Technical School in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region, David Teye-Bi-Teye Agualey has made a passionate appeal to the government through the Ghana Education Service, GES, and the Ministry of Education to come to the aid of the school to help improve the enormous infrastructural deficit that is confronting the school which is impacting academic performance.

He bemoaned that the school for the past 33 years has no place of convenience for both teaching and non-teaching staff, permanent Dining Hall, Assembly Hall, ICT Lab and sufficient classrooms which is affecting the academic performance of the school.

The Headmaster noted that sometimes students will be learning or writing exams in class and goats, sheep, and fowls will invade the class. Mr. Teye-Bi-Teye Agualey has therefore made a passionate appeal to the government to come to their aid when our Eastern Regional Correspondent Michael Kenetey visited the school, his alma mater which coincided with a durbar organized to climax the school SRC week celebration.

The Klo-Agogo Senior High Technical School which was established in the year 1991 as part of the 1987 education reforms with 35 students can now boast of 925 student population with 363 boys and 562 girls with only 22 classrooms. Those in the boarding house facility are 694 and the day students are 231 with a staff strength of 58 teaching staff and 22 non-teaching staff.

Currently, the school is offering five courses which include, Agriculture Science, General Arts, Visual Arts, Home Economics and Business. However, as the student population of the school kept skyrocketing every year, the infrastructural facilities of the school kept depreciating, which is affecting the academic performance of the school.

A two-story building block which was commenced by erstwhile the late Professor John Evans Atta-Mills administration in 2012, which will supplement the classroom facilities, has also been abandoned. The school bus which was also donated to the school in 2016 in also in a deplorable state.

The Headmaster of the school, David Teye-Bi-Teye Agualey addressing the durbar bemoaned that the school is growing in numbers, but not developing in terms of facilities to enhance teaching and learning in the school. He has therefore appealed to the government to come to the aid of the school.

The Chairman for the durbar, a retired Commissioner of Police, and the Asafoatse of the Atua Manya Division of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Odjeblema Angmortey has urged the students not to be discouraged by the facility deficit confronting the school but should learn hard to achieve their academic dreams.

The School Head Prefect, Priscilla Keni Awatey appealed to stakeholders to support the school in building a sickbay for the students to have access to healthcare when they fall sick.

She also appealed to the government through GES and the Ministry of Education to help provide them with classroom furniture, adding that since there is inadequate furniture and classrooms in the school, their small classrooms that are supposed to take 30 students each are taking over 50 students a class.

The Old Students donated a notice board to the school to help in information dissemination among the students and staff in the school.

The 2011-year group also donated a cash amount of two thousand cedis to the school.
