Kotokos latest result was particularly disappointing, as they suffered a 2-0 home loss to Aduana FC last Sunday despite their opponents playing the entire second half with 10 men. The result leaves them with one win, two draws and one defeat, and they will be looking to regain momentum against Karela United.
History in Kumasi offers Kotoko some encouragement. They have avoided defeat in their last six league meetings with Karela United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, recording three wins before three consecutive 1-1 draws.
Their broader home record, however, has been less convincing. Kotoko have won four, drawn one and lost four of their last nine league matches at the stadium, highlighting the need for a more consistent performance on Thursday.
Karela United arrive in Kumasi with confidence after claiming a narrow 1-0 home victory over Hearts of Oak last Saturday. That result was their second win of the campaign and extended their impressive home record against the Phobians.
The Tamale-based side have also found the net in each of their four league matches this season, underlining their consistency in attack. Their performances away from home have been less encouraging, though, with Karela United failing to win any of their last four league games on the road.
That run includes one draw and three successive defeats. Karela United conceded at least twice in each of those three losses and will be aiming to end that sequence by securing their first league victory away from home since a 1-0 win over Dreams FC in February 2026.
The fixture therefore presents both teams with a chance to correct a weakness: Kotoko are seeking a response after a poor home defeat, while Karela United are attempting to translate their home form into an away result.
