Once again, Kudus proved to be the difference-maker, scoring the decisive goal in the second half that propelled Ajax to a 1-0 victory over FC Twente in Thursday’s Dutch Cup round of 16 match.

In a closely contested match at the De Grolsch Veste, Kudus found the back of the net in the 70th minute, delivering the decisive blow for Ajax. The Ghana international has been in top form this season, scoring a total of 13 goals – four in the Champions League and seven in the Dutch Eredivisie.

At the beginning of the season, Kudus faced difficulties with manager Alfred Schreuder, who was dismissed in January. Kudus came close to leaving the club. He had agreed to join Everton, but Ajax blocked the transfer.

Despite these challenges, Kudus fought to earn his place in Schreuder’s line-up and scored 10 goals before the World Cup in Qatar, where he scored twice for Ghana during their unsuccessful campaign.

Since Schreuder’s departure, Kudus has been instrumental in the team’s success, being involved in two goals in the past two matches. He delivered a magnificent assist in the 5-0 league victory over Cambuur last Sunday.

Ajax is now led by interim coach John Heitinga, and under his guidance, Kudus has regained his top form. This is not the first time that Kudus has played for Heitinga, as the two previously worked together during Kudus’ stint with Jong Ajax, where he scored an impressive five goals in five games.

Since Heitinga’s appointment as Ajax’s interim coach, Kudus has been a standout performer, earning the Man of the Match award twice in three games. This resurgence is a testament to Heitinga’s ability to bring out the best in his players and to the strong relationship between the coach and Kudus.
