Last Wednesday, February 25, the Alisa Hotel in North Ridge, Accra, hosted the official launch of the Kwahu Business Advocacy Association (KBAA), a new platform aimed at bringing together entrepreneurs and business leaders from the Kwahu area.

The event, held under the theme “A Collective Voice for Enterprise: Kwahu Advocacy in Policy and Trade,” attracted senior government officials, traditional authorities, prominent business executives, and development partners. Notable attendees included Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, who delivered the keynote address.

Welcoming guests, Mr. Kwaku Nyarko-Pong described the KBAA as a non-governmental organization limited by guarantee, designed to unite Kwahu business owners and executives. He explained that the platform will serve as a neutral forum for dialogue with government agencies, traditional councils, and other stakeholders to advance initiatives that contribute to economic development.

Membership is primarily for businesses and executives based in Kwahu, although non-Kwahu entities can join as Associate Members.

“We cannot continue to work hard and earn a little,” she said, underlining that the KBAA’s formation represents a strategic effort to create an enabling environment for enterprise growth, especially in light of opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).”

The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the association’s official logo, marking a symbolic milestone in the KBAA’s establishment.

Kwahu entrepreneurs have long been influential in sectors such as trade, finance, real estate, manufacturing, hospitality, and energy. The KBAA seeks to transition from fragmented individual efforts to a structured approach that influences policy, strengthens capital access, supports young entrepreneurs, and promotes participation in both regional and global markets.

The association will be guided by a Board of Trustees, Managing Board, and General Assembly, tasked with overseeing its operations and strategic focus. The launch included a documentary presentation and solidarity messages, highlighting the value of a united business community in advancing economic development.
