The La-Dadekotopon Municipal Education Directorate has launched an investigation into a disturbance that took place at Labone Senior High School on Thursday.
The disturbance was sparked by an altercation between a senior and junior student, which led to the town invasion.
According to eyewitnesses, the town invasion took place around 3:20 pm and created a scene of chaos as persons believed to be members of the township invaded the school wielding cutlasses and other weapons.
The police were called to the scene and were able to restore order. However, no arrests were made.
The La-Dadekotopon Municipal Education Director, Habiba Kotoma, has clarified that the reports suggesting that the school was under siege by members of the township are inaccurate. She said that the situation is currently being thoroughly investigated and that the school authorities are cooperating with the police.
At the time of Citi News’ visit to the school, calm had been restored as normal school activities were ongoing.The Labone SHS disturbance is a reminder of the need for security at schools. It is also a reminder of the importance of conflict resolution and mediation.
