KENYA – A woman identified as Juliette Awata has taken to social media to expose a middle-aged man, Allan Ochieng, for leaving her with a Ksh. 10K (GHS 900) bill following a date at a restaurant in Sarit Centre.
According to Juliette, Allan first contacted her online, and after checking out his profile, she found him attractive and seemingly well-off.
He later invited her out for drinks, and she agreed to meet him. During their outing, Allan reportedly stepped outside to answer what he described as an important phone call, after which he disappeared and never returned.
Juliette said she waited for him for a while before asking the waitress whether he had settled the bill, only to discover that he had left without paying anything.
She claims she had personally spent only Ksh. 1,550, but was left responsible for the entire Ksh. 10,000 bill.
According to her, when she warned Allan that she would expose him online, he allegedly deactivated his social media accounts.
The incident has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some sympathising with Juliette while others use the story as a reminder to be cautious when meeting people for the first time
