A legal battle over the estate and burial of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has taken an unconventional and controversial turn.
A formal petition has been filed with the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council against Lawyer Dominic Kwadwo Osei, alleging professional misconduct and unethical conduct arising from his social media activities.
The petition, authored by Frederick Sani and dated April 21, 2026, claims that Lawyer Dominic Kwadwo Osei, a junior lawyer at Baba Jamal & Associates has “veered from his professional lane” by engaging in inflammatory social media commentary.
The Roots of the DisputeThe controversy began following the death of Daddy Lumba, which sparked a legal fight between Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, the deceased’s wife, and several other parties, including the head of the family, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, and Priscilla Ofori (widely known as Odo Broni).
While the Kumasi High Court recognized both Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh and Odo Broni as legal surviving spouses, the decision was appealed by Madam Akosua, a case that remains pending.
This legal rift has birthed two fierce support factions on TikTok, where sympathizers of both women regularly clash.
Allegations of “TikTok Lawyering”According to the petition, Lawyer Osei represents the faction opposing Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh in a fresh suit seeking to stop her from organizing funeral events in the late singer’s name.
The petitioner alleges that Osei has used his personal TikTok account (@lawyerosei) to mock opposing parties.
He also conducted a regular in-depth commentaries after court sessions specifically to mock Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh and her supporters.
He further organized live Q&A sessions where he posts court processes and documents to incite his audience.
He also posted interlocutory injunctions as “achievements” to invite praise from his followers.
The use of captions such as “The Day of reckoning starts today. Arrest mode activated” and “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked,” which the petitioner claims are intended to spite the opposing side.
In one specific instance, the petition highlights a video Osei allegedly posted of himself eating fufu at a “chop bar” while wearing a tunic shirt, which the petitioner describes as behavior that “smacks of unprofessionalism” intended to taunt the rival faction.Concerns of Professional Integrity.
The petitioner argued that Osei’s conduct has brought the image of the legal profession into “serious disrepute”.
Rather than acting as an agent of reconciliation, the petition claims Osei has chosen a path that “inflames conflict and is likely to breach the peace”.Evidence submitted alongside the petition includes TikTok posts and pen drives containing video recordings of the lawyer’s live sessions.
The Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council is now requested to investigate whether these digital actions constitute a breach of the ethical standards expected of legal practitioners in Ghana.
As of now, Baba Jamal & Associates and Lawyer Osei have not issued a formal public response to the allegations
