The construction of the training pitch at Legon for the upcoming 2023 African Games is currently 70% complete, with final touches yet to be added.
While the installation of mondo tracks and floodlights is pending, preparations are progressing smoothly and in accordance with World Athletics standards. Additionally, over 1500 parking spaces have been designated to accommodate participants and spectators.
Although the focus has been primarily on the training pitch, plans are underway to work on the main pitch at Legon in the coming months. This includes the development of VIP and media sections to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all involved.
Originally scheduled to take place this year, the 13th African Games had to be rescheduled due to delays in completing the necessary infrastructure.
The new dates for the event have been set between 8 and 23 March 2024, allowing ample time for the completion of all venues and facilities.
