Another year is coming to an end and once again the Guiness World Record(GWR) craze was in the trends following the decision by some Ghanaians to break record and get recognized.
Though lots of Ghanaians applied and tried to smash some world records, only few managed to emerged winners and GWR certificate holders.
In this article we take a look at some extraordinary individuals and their remarkable achievements in regards to the GWR.
Abdul Hakim Awal
Abdul Hakim Awal, a 23-year-old journalist from Kumasi, Ghana, who broke the world record for the longest time to hug a tree, says he spent 6 months practicing to achieve the feat. Abdul Hakim Awal’s “tree-hug-a-thon,” which took place outside Kumasi Cultural Centre, lasted 24 hours, 21 minutes.
Ace Liam
Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah born on the 16th of July, 2022 began his painting journey at just 6 months old, showing an extraordinary early talent for art.
Liam attempted the Guinness World Records in Accra between January 18 and January 20, 2024. This achievement was announced at a press conference on Tuesday, May 14.
Abubakar Tahiru
Abubakar Tahiru, a distinguish graduate of the University for Development Studies (UDS) has become a world record holder for embracing a total of 1,123 trees in one hour. This record-breaking attempt occurred on March 25, 2024 in Auburn, Alabama, USA at the Tuskegee National Forest’s Pleasant Hills.
Akosua Mantey Roselyn
Akosua made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon makeup application attempt, completing five days of continuous makeup application. This achievement was a testament to her dedication and love for the beauty industry.
With over eight years of experience, Akosua has consistently pushed boundaries and strived for excellence in her craft.
Jephthah Osarfo Appiah
Jephthah Osarfo Appiah who is a filmmaker took on a challenge to play video games for over 100 hours in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, from 1 to 6 May 2024.
According to him, he took on this challenge to bring gaming the community to the African youth and also to urge the youth to believe in themselves.
Felicity Asantewaa
The most cars washed in eight hours by an individual is 60 and was achieved by Felicity Asantewaa (Ghana) in Accra, Ghana, on 9 March 2024.
Felicity broke the record by 5.
Chelsea-Abigail Owusu Ansah
Chelsea-Abigail Owusu Ansah also joined the bandwagon by embarking on a GWR attempt for the most heads of hair lock by an individual in eight hours.
Evans Aryee
The Belgium-based Ghanaian strongman and powerlifter, Evans Aryee broke the record for the fastest 400 kg incline frame carry over ten meters. On January 26, 2024, in Milan, Italy, with a record set under 8.07 seconds.
