Listening to secular songs doesn’t make one an unbeliever – Daughters of Glorious Jesus

The venerable gospel music trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus has settled the battle on secular music being ungodly for Christians saying listening to positive secular songs doesn’t make a person an unbeliever.

The three veteran gospel musicians’ intimated that it is not all secular songs that make perverts but there are actually some of those songs that compel believers to do good.

To buttress their point, one of the trio Edna Sarpong mentioned the works of Amakye Dede and Kojo Antwi which she said preaches positivity and has inspired many believers and also prompted them to do good.

Made up of Monica Owusu Ansah, Edna Sarpong, and Cynthia Appiadu, the group disagreed with Rev Moses Ok‘s caution to Christians against listening to secular music which he said the lyrics are inspired by evil spirit thereby advising Christians to listen to only gospel songs which have the spirit of God in them.

Edna Sarpong said the talent of secular singers was also given by God just as gospel sings and so it is up to believers to know the positive secular songs to listen to.

“It is God who gives talent. As a Christian, you can listen to secular songs; even their lyrics can touch you and compel you to do the right thing.

“I like Amakye Dede’s songs, and I like him. This doesn’t make me a non-believer. You don’t judge people’s outlooks and determine whether the person is a Christian or not. That I am playing Amakye Dede in my car doesn’t mean I am not a Christian.”
