Liverpool have completed the signing of Wataru Endo from VfB Stuttgart in an effort to build a strong midfield in the ongoing season.

The Japan international is expected to help fill the void left by outgone midfielders, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who both departed to the Saudi Pro League.

The Reds finally struck a deal with the 30-year-old after failing to get their initial targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia who have both joined Chelsea.

“I’m very happy right now and I’m so excited to join a big club in Liverpool.

“It feels amazing and this is my dream. It’s always [been] a dream to play [in the] Premier League and with one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s a dream come true for me,” Endo told Liverpool media.

Having arrived in Germany in 2019, Endo spent four seasons with Stuttgart, where he made 133 appearances and scored 15 goals.

The midfielder spent two seasons in Belgium with Sint-Truidense before joining Die Roten after making a name for himself in Japan with Shonan Bellmare and Urawa Red Diamonds.

Endo has two goals and 50 caps for Japan at the international level. He was also a key player for the Samurai Blue at the 2022 World Cup making four appearances as they progressed to the round of the tournament.
