Ghanas Black Meteors will return to camp on Monday, October 12, as head coach Desmond Ofei steps up preparations for next months CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying showdown against Libya.A 32-man group is expected at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram for the opening phase of preparations, with the squad set to be trimmed as the technical team fine-tunes its plans. Six foreign-based players are also expected to join the team ahead of the two-legged tie, scheduled within the November 917 international window. The locally based players are expected to remain in camp until the qualifiers, although temporary releases may be granted on a weekly basis at the request of their respective clubs to allow them to feature in domestic league matches.Ghana will travel to Libya for the first leg before hosting the return encounter, knowing that victory on aggregate would secure a place in the final qualifying round. There, the Black Meteors would face either Equatorial Guinea or Niger for a place at the continental finals. The qualification campaign will produce seven teams to join hosts Egypt at the eight-nation U-23 AFCON finals.A successful campaign would keep Ghanas hopes of returning to the mens Olympic football tournament alive, with the Black Meteors last appearing at the Games in Athens in 2004.
