The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner will join teammate Toni Kroos who also agreed to extend his contract with Real Madrid for another year.
Madrid recruited Modric from Tottenham in 2012, and the midfielder has since then won five Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, and two Copa del Reys during his tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia had made Modric an attractive offer, but he chose to stay in the Spanish capital instead.
Expressing his joy, he wrote on Twitter, “Home Sweet Home.”

With his wealth of experience, Modric is expected to help his team make amends for last season’s disappointing performances which saw Madrid miss out on both the Champions League and league title.
Modric who also won the UEFA Best Men’s Player of the Year in 2018 will also mentor a number of youngsters at the club including new signing Jude Bellingham who joined from Dortmund.
