Fasting and Prayer

Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has appealed to Ghanaians, especially religious leaders, to intensify national prayers following the August 6 helicopter crash that killed eight people, including senior government officials.

In a letter dated August 10 to leaders of various Christian denominations, Afriyie Ankrah conveyed President John Dramani Mahama’s appreciation for the clergy’s ongoing role in promoting peace and unity. He encouraged them to share any spiritual revelations of national importance with the presidency, stressing the need for vigilance and guidance during a time of loss.

He noted that any prophecy or insight concerning political leaders, governance, security, or national stability should be formally relayed through proper channels. This, he said, would ensure responsible stewardship over the country’s future.

Referring to the crash, which involved state officials, military officers, and political figures, the envoy urged prayers for the president, government institutions, bereaved families, and the nation as a whole.

“May the Lord comfort the afflicted, guide our leaders, and continue to preserve our beloved country,” his letter concluded, calling for unity and resilience in the face of tragedy.
