Majeed Ashimeru missed Ghana‘s recovery training session on Friday due to a knock picked up after the 2-2 draw to Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ashimeru was subbed off in the 62nd minute minutes after requiring treatment for an apparent injury.
After the pulsating game, Ghana coach Chris Hughton confirmed the injury after the player was seen limping in the mixed zone.
“A substitution that we had to make, and we will assess him in the morning,” he told the press.
Following advice from the team doctor, the 26-year-old was given time off to rest and as a result, missed Ghana’s recovery session on Friday.
There’s optimism in the team that Ashimeru should be ready for the game on Monday.
The team is expected to train twice before facing Mozambique in a must-win game.
