Manchester United have confirmed Bruno Fernandes will lead the team as the captain for the upcoming season.
The midfielder, who wore the armband for most of last season as Harry Maguire lost his place in the team, has been selected to continue in the leadership role.
Last week, Harry Maguire revealed that he had been informed by manager Erik ten Hag that he would no longer be the club’s skipper, marking one of the latest significant decisions by the United manager during this summer.
“As captain, the two-time Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year will continue to drive the highest standards throughout the squad as United push for success in the 2023/24 season and beyond,” the club stated in an official statement.
The Red Devils have recently arrived in the United States for their pre-season tour and are gearing up to face Arsenal in New Jersey on Saturday. With Bruno Fernandes leading the team, Manchester United aims to embark on a successful campaign in the upcoming season.
