Max TV has issued an apology to Ghanaian singer Christie Quincyna Quarcoopome, popularly known as Cina Soul, following controversial remarks made by actor Big Akwes during a recent appearance on the station’s morning show.
In a statement seen by GhanaWeekend, the station expressed “sincere” regret for the “harsh comments” made by Big Akwes on the Max Morning Show aired on March 31, 2025.
The apology also addressed “subsequent remarks” made by the host of the show’s entertainment segment, which intensified public criticism.
The comments were made during a discussion that followed the airing of a clip from Cina Soul’s newly released album. Max TV acknowledged that the statements may have caused distress to the artist and emphasized that they “do not reflect the values or standards” of the station.
“We deeply regret any distress caused by these statements… Max TV unequivocally regrets the incident and apologizes immensely,” the statement read. The station further noted that internal corrective measures have been taken to address the issue.
Acknowledging the public’s mixed reactions, Max TV reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a respectful and positive media environment.
“To Cina Soul, we extend our heartfelt apologies and admiration for your talent and contributions to Ghana’s music industry,” the statement added.
Max TV concluded by pledging to promote Cina Soul’s creative works in ways that celebrate her artistry and reiterated its resolve to uphold higher broadcasting standards going forward.
