Melcom Group of Companies has supported two police commands of the Ghana police service; the Accra Regional Police Command and the Darkuman District Police Command with office equipment.
The items comprise an 89-liter refrigerator and an Akai water dispenser for the Accra Regional Police Command and Darkuman District Police Command, as well as office furniture, desks, and chairs.
The General Manager of the Group, Francis Sam at Melcom Care Event presented the items to them and used the occasion to commend the police for consistently maintaining peace and social order throughout the country- “We meet here today to answer the call of the Ghana Police Service who diligently service our safety and security needs daily. As the Men and Women in uniform devoted themselves to providing service in favour of public safety and security, Ghana’s claim to be a peaceful nation is further deepened”.
He said, as responsible business enterprises in Ghana, they believed that Peace and security are two essential ingredients among others which would serve as motivation for increased investment with its benefits at the national level in terms of service delivery, convenient shopping, affordable goods and services, increasing employment for qualified Ghanaian Youth and as well as physical development and social cohesion among others.
Melcom is noted for supporting the Ghana Police Services, whose core mandate is to prevent and detect crime, apprehend offenders, and maintain public order and safety of persons and properties and that, “this is not just something that we do for the fun of it but as a sense of urgency to respond to a call as far as the security in our country is concerned”.
Melcom Care Foundation supports the Ghana Police Services in its
initiative to recognize this donation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility with a special in Health and Education, “but without peace and security, the former will not flourish”.
Superintended Juliana Obeng, Director of Public Affairs at the Accra Regional Police Command on behalf of his colleagues and the behalf of the police Administration was grateful to Melcom for responding to their requests. She mentioned that officers in Accra will conduct themselves well throughout this election period.
From Accra Regional Police Command, the following officers were present:
Superintendent Juliana Obeng- Director of Public Affairs with support from Assistant Superintendent of Police – Cynthia Annan -Director of Logistics and Darkuman District Police Command team was led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Seraphina Wemegah and also with the team are: Assistant Superintendent of Police-Asomah Benneh, Chief Inspector – Francis Owusu and Chief Inspector – Opoku Marfo.
