Cameroonian forward Georges Mfuege returned to the starting lineup to power Kotoko to a resounding 3-1 victory over Kotoku Royals at Dawu Park on Monday afternoon in the Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko were winless in their last three games and desperately needed to bounce back to at least hope for a top-four finish as the season nears its end.
Mfuege who last played in Kotoko’s last month’s defeat to Great Olympics shot the Porcupines into the lead with just eight minutes on the clock before increasing the lead 20 minutes later.

The host pulled one back through Richard Dzikoe to maintain a respectable scoreline at halftime.
However, Rocky Dwamena scored three minutes into the second half to cement the victory for the defending champions in a game that saw Kotoku Royals end with ten men following a red card received in stoppage time.
Kotoko have now moved to fourth place with 47 points after 31 games behind Medeama SC, Aduana Stars, and Bechem United. Meanwhile, Kotoku Royals were confirmed relegated after losing to great Olympics a few weeks ago and will play their remaining matches for pride.
They will host Karela United in their next game at the Baba Yara Stadium.
