Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta remained tight-lipped about the future of English-Ghanaian striker Eddie Nketiah following their resounding 4-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in a friendly match on Wednesday evening.

“We can’t talk about things like that,” Arteta said when asked about Nketiah after the game. “He played some minutes today. He is a player who gives us so much that we like him a lot. And at this moment there is nothing to discuss.”

Nketiah started on the bench but was brought on in the 70th minute, replacing Kai Havertz. The game, played at the Emirates Stadium, saw Arsenal dominate with goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Havertz. Bayer Leverkusen’s only goal came from Adam Hlozak in the 76th minute.

Arsenal will face Olympique Lyon on Sunday in their final pre-season match before the start of the 2024/25 English Premier League season. Despite Nketiah’s uncertain future, the Gunners appear to be in strong form ahead of the new campaign.
