Egypt made history by securing their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory with a 3-1 comeback win over New Zealand, moving a step closer to a maiden appearance in the knockout stages.
The Pharaohs found themselves behind early after Finn Surman headed New Zealand into the lead from a Tim Payne corner in the 15th minute. However, Egypt returned from the break with renewed intensity and completely turned the game around.
Mostafa Zico sparked the comeback in the 58th minute when he headed home Mohamed Hany’s cross. Mohamed Salah then combined brilliantly with Zico before calmly slotting home Egypt’s second goal to put his side ahead.

Salah capped off an outstanding performance by providing the assist for Trezeguet’s late header, sealing a memorable victory. The result puts Egypt on course to reach the World Cup knockout stage for the first time, while New Zealand remain in search of their maiden World Cup win.
