Legendary Jamaican reggae band Morgan Heritage on Friday,21st April,2023 made history as the first international and Grammy award-winning music group to ever launch its album in Ghana.
The star- studded 21-track collection dubbed ‘The Homeland’, marks a new era for the Morgan brothers as they expand their global reach from the Caribbean to the African Continent and beyond.
Some of the legendary international and local artists featured on the album include: Popcaan, Youssou N’Dour, Shaggy, Beenie Man, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Alpha Blondy, Rocky Dawuni and more.
The much-publicised event which took place at the Oasis Lounge in Accra was attended by some selected media personalities and creatives including D’Black, Episode, Rocky Dawuni, Nii Lantey ,Black Prophet, Reggie Rockstone and others.
Morgan Heritage joined the Grammy Musuem (at L.A.Live) last month as guests for The Drop series , hosting an intimate conversation about their career, Creative process, and their new album.
This kicked off the culturally-iconic band’s global promotional tour , which planned stops in Los Angeles , New York, England, Germany, France , Uganda and Ghana.
Morgan Heritage band was formed in 1994 by five children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, namely Peter “Peetah” Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan.
The group which is currently in Ghana is being represented by Gramps, Peetah and Mojo Morgan. Apart from launching ‘The HomeLand” album,they will also shoot a music video with Shatta Wale.
