A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has been arrested for selling her infant daughter in a desperate attempt to repay a debt of 600,000 naira.
According to reports, Olaide, who resides in the Sango area of Ogun State, left home on March 15 with her baby girl, Mordiat Rasak, and travelled to Lagos.
Her husband reportedly became suspicious when she returned without the child, prompting him to alert authorities and initiate a search.
Police later apprehended the suspect, who is said to have confessed during interrogation that she sold the baby to repay a loan owed to a microfinance bank.

The revelation has shocked many, raising serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding the act.
