Heavy equipment dealer HMD and its Tuboshu brand have unveiled ForLife – a scheme providing lifetime equipment protection against cost of break-down of machinery in its entire life span.

ForLife product was unveiled on the first day of West African Mining and Power Expo (WAMPEX) 2026, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

ForLife can be availed through the purchase of a new Tuboshu machine and works on a flat rate per hour of operation of the equipment. All mechanical and electrical breakdowns will be covered under the scheme including costs of spare parts and labour with the customers only charged for the hours of usage.

The cover will be in effect during the entire period of ownership and will even be transferrable should the machine be sold to another customer.

This is HMD’s first such scheme according to the company in Africa. HMD stated there is no similar scheme available anywhere in Africa at the moment and has been devised to assist operators in tackling one of the greatest risks to cost.

Break-downs of equipment are one of the most expensive problems faced by mining and construction operators. Break-down of an engine or hydraulic system often causes costly delays in projects. HMD believes ForLife will assist in making repair costs certain by converting the unpredictable repair cost into an operating cost.

It further stated that operators managing a number of machines would benefit from tiered pricing and customised rates would be offered in case of more than 25 machines.

ForLife is complimentary to HMD’s current schemes of equipment acquisition which includes purchasing, renting and rent-to-own schemes. The company also set up an hourly rate calculator at its booth at the WAMPEX exhibition.

The 19th edition of the WAMPEX 2026 was held from 3rd to 5th June and was attended by more than 6,000 visitors and around 250 exhibitors from 20 countries.
