Dr Rashid Pelpuo, Member of Parliament for Wa Central, has once again called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those behind a recent spate of killings in Wa.

He expressed deep concern over the escalating violence, which has resulted in over 15 deaths and instilled fear in residents. Dr. Pelpuo emphasized the urgent need to stop further attacks, underlining the pressing nature of the situation.

In June 2024, Dr. Pelpuo offered a reward of GH¢100,000 for any information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrators. During an appearance on the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM with Caleb Kudah, the MP criticized the security apparatus for what he believed to be inadequate efforts to address the crisis.

“We need to see strong security measures put in place to safeguard our community from these senseless killings,” Dr. Pelpuo stated. He expressed disappointment in what he saw as the ineffectiveness of security agencies in capturing the culprits.

“The failure to make arrests and bring perpetrators to justice represents a significant flaw in our security system,” Dr. Pelpuo noted, recognizing the profound impact of the ongoing violence on local businesses and community morale. The gravity of the situation cannot be overstated.

Acknowledging responsibility for the lack of progress, Dr. Pelpuo underlined his commitment to collaborate with residents and endorse community-led security initiatives.

“We are tirelessly working to uncover the truth behind these brutal murders,” he affirmed. “I take responsibility for ensuring that our security system is strong enough to arrest and prosecute those responsible.” This commitment should reassure the audience of the ongoing efforts.

The MP’s impassioned plea comes amid heightened tensions in Wa and appeals for decisive action to restore safety and justice for residents affected by the wave of violence.
