Mrs Alma Naa Jama Opoku Prempeh, wife of the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, kickstarted her political campaign activity at the Odododiodoo Constituency, where she visited her maternal family home to seek their support.

Accompanied by prominent figures including the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, as well as regional and constituency executives of the NPP, Mrs. Opoku Prempeh asked for the blessings of her family elders to begin her campaign in earnest.

The visit was a momentous occasion marked by a blend of traditional rites, heartfelt exchanges with her family and resounding chants of endorsement from party supporters in the constituency who had gathered to witness the event.

During the visit, the head of Alma’s maternal family, Nii Agyir Banor, invoked the blessings of the ancestors, calling on them to guide and protect Mrs Opoku Prempeh as she embarks on this crucial campaign. He emphasised the importance of unity, urging all family members to rally behind her and offer their unwavering support.

Nii Banor also expressed pride in her accomplishments and dedication. He lauded her exceptional qualities, emphasising her loyalty, compassion, and leadership traits that have undoubtedly contributed to her role as a supportive partner to Dr. Opoku Prempeh.

He urged her to continue working closely with her husband, who is a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and public service. He encouraged her to remain steadfast and loyal, reminding her that their collective effort would not only contribute to the NPP’s success in the upcoming elections but also bring honour to the family.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, said in an interview after the ceremony that the Ga-Adangbe community is excited to have one of their own in a position to become the second lady of Ghana.

“She is one of our own, and we are proud to have her here. I pray and seek the support of everyone for her success, and especially for the success of the Bawumia-Napo ticket.”

This visit, which took place amidst the rising political momentum ahead of the December elections, is also part of a broader strategy to galvanize support for the NPP in the Odododiodoo Constituency.
