The teams set to participate in the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Boys Championship have undergone an orientation session ahead of the start of the competition.Players, coaches, team officials and other stakeholders gathered at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Monday, 24 August, a day before the tournament officially begins.The session focused on discipline, safeguarding, player welfare and the operational requirements for a successful championship.Enoch Agyare Addo, Vice-Chairman of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship Organising Committee, welcomed the participants and urged the teams to uphold discipline, respect, fair play and sportsmanship throughout the competition.He also highlighted the importance of the tournament as a platform for identifying and developing Ghana’s emerging football talents.The championship is expected to provide an opportunity for promising players to gain exposure and potentially progress into Ghana’s various national teams.Michael Daasebre Adu Asare, Regional Football Association Coordinator, took participants through the operational guidelines governing the use of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.He reminded the teams of their responsibility to protect the facility and maintain professional standards both on and off the pitch.Compliance and Integrity Officer Obed Tufuor also addressed participants on safeguarding and the need to provide a safe and respectful environment for young players and everyone involved in the competition.Additional presentations covered medical preparedness, player welfare, matchday conduct and other tournament protocols.The orientation gave participants an opportunity to clarify key issues and familiarise themselves with the standards expected throughout the competition.The MTN Elite U-19 Boys Championship officially begins on Tuesday, 25 August, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with regional teams from across Ghana competing for the title.Sponsored by MTN Ghana, the tournament forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s “Power to the Youth” initiative, which aims to create a structured pathway for young footballers from grassroots level to professional football and the national teams.The championship therefore represents another important step in Ghana’s efforts to identify and nurture the next generation of football talent.
