The National Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed that MTN’s Zone Bundle will be available again, but at different prices.
On April 12, MTN Ghana issued a press release saying that, beginning April 5, they will no longer be offering their clients the unique data package.
MTN Ghana’s innovative Data Zone bundle provides clients with a discounted rate plan that is good for a whole day at the time of purchase.
The mobile network issued an apology to its cherished customers in a press release, saying: “We apologise to our cherished customers for limiting our communications on this matter to service activation channels only. The suspension of the innovative Data Zone bundle is due to a review of the bundle offer in line with the Significant Market Power (SMP) directives applied to MTN Ghana in June 2020, not to be the lowest priced on any offer in the industry.”
“We are currently engaging and collaborating with the Regulator, as we seek alignment on a revised Data Zone bundle to be reinstated as soon as possible. We will notify you in due course of further developments.”
In the latest news today, the National Communications Authority CEO Dr. Joe Anokye has stated that the service will be reinstated with new prices.
During a news conference on April 26 in Accra, Mr. Anokye stated that “MTN has since submitted a revised data zone bundle which has been approved by the authority. “It is our expectation that the product will soon be available.”
What is MTN Zone Bundle?
MTN Zone Bundles are discounted internet subscriptions offered by MTN Ghana. These bundles offer inexpensive access to huge amounts of internet data. The bundle discounts may vary based on the location of the subscriber. According to MTN Customer Service, the offer is currently unavailable indefinitely, leaving customers who have previously benefited from this offer to starve.
