The mother of Ohene Kwame Frimpong has broken her silence following the arrest and detention of her son at Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.

The development comes just days after a brief statement shared on the official Facebook page of Parliament of Ghana confirmed that the matter had been brought to the attention of the House.

The statement, signed by Clerk to Parliament Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, indicated that the Speaker of Parliament and parliamentary leadership were engaging Ghana’s diplomatic mission in The Hague to gather full details surrounding the incident.

Following widespread discussion on social media, the MP’s mother granted an interview in which she strongly defended her son against allegations circulating online.

According to her, Ohene Kwame Frimpong is not a scammer or criminal but rather a generous philanthropist who helps people.

She appealed to the authorities handling the matter to release him, insisting that her son is innocent of the accusations being associated with his arrest.

News of the arrest has generated mixed reactions among Ghanaians online.

While some social media users expressed sympathy for the MP and his family, others called for investigations to proceed transparently to establish the facts surrounding the case.
